the days are getting shorter so quickly and there is just starting to be a hint of fall in the crispness of the air. i think i'm ready for fall. sweaters and soup and leaves and cold noses.
today was a perfect blue sky slightly breezy 70 degree day. we planted the last crop of lettuce and some kohlrabi and i learned how to splice hose for irrigation.
things are pretty laid back on the farm these days. less light and heat means everything grows a little slower and it is much easier to stay on top of the weeding and harvesting. plus we rock. we work really well as a team. that has been one of the biggest joys this summer. as a crew we make our decisions together and all pull equal weight, and if we mess up, we all take equal responsibility. and when we kick ass, we celebrate.
i was in chicago last weekend to see danny & lisa's show, which was thouroughly enjoyable. i ran into a heap of cats i used to work with at redmoon and got a lot of stunned responses to the news that i work on a farm now. so many people have absolutly no idea why i would want to do such a thing. suckers.
we're thinking about making impeach bush potato stamps for the protest. maybe even setting up a workshop for kids. ah -- the joys of child labor. i hope people show up to this event. i hope we can rock the boat at least a bit. i can see it going either way.
